Terms of Service

Last updated: 23 October 2026 · Applies to the Propel iPhone app and propelapp.au

These terms are an agreement between you and Propel about your use of the app and website. Please read them. By creating an account or using Propel, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Propel.

1. Who we are

Propel is operated by Charles Nicholas Bettiol, a sole trader based in Queensland, Australia (“Propel”, “we”, “us”). These terms should be read with our Privacy Policy and the health and training waiver you accept when you set up your account. If they conflict, the waiver and these terms apply in that order for the topics they cover, and the Privacy Policy governs how we handle your personal information.

2. Who can use Propel

  • You must be 18 or over. Propel is not designed for children or teenagers, and we do not provide programs for anyone under 18. Sign-up asks for your date of birth and does not let anyone under 18 continue.
  • Propel is made for healthy adults and is offered to people in Australia on iPhone. You are responsible for any local laws that apply if you use it elsewhere.
  • You must give us accurate information when you sign up and keep it up to date, including anything that affects your training or food, such as injuries, allergies, pregnancy, medication and medical conditions. Your plan is only as good as what you tell us.
  • You are responsible for your account and your password. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has accessed your account.

3. Health, training and nutrition

Propel gives general fitness and nutrition information. It is not medical, dietary or physiotherapy advice, it is not a diagnosis, and it does not replace care from your GP, physiotherapist or Accredited Practising Dietitian. Your coach in Propel is not a doctor or dietitian.

  • Check with a suitably qualified professional before you start or change an exercise or eating plan if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a medical condition (including heart, blood pressure, diabetes, kidney or bone and joint conditions), a history of an eating disorder or disordered eating, are injured, or take medication.
  • Exercise carries a risk of injury and, rarely, serious harm. Train within your limits, warm up, use safe technique and equipment, and stop if something hurts. If you feel sharp or increasing pain, chest pain, faintness or unusual breathlessness, stop and seek appropriate care straight away. In an emergency call 000. For support with your mental health, call Lifeline on 13 11 14.
  • Calorie, macro and other nutrition targets are estimates. Food photo logging and food database entries (including packaged-food details from public databases) can be wrong, so check labels and adjust entries when you can.
  • You use Propel at your own risk and are responsible for the choices you make about your health. This does not limit rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law (see section 11).

4. Your AI coach

Your coach in Propel is an artificial intelligence system, not a person or a health professional. Our team designs and tests how it coaches, but its day-to-day replies are not reviewed by a human. Its replies, plans, adjustments and food estimates are generated from the information you provide and can be incorrect, incomplete or unsuitable for you. Always apply your own judgement and do not rely on the coach for medical, mental health, injury or emergency decisions.

You choose how involved the coach is and how much it decides, in Settings under Coach settings. Depending on those settings, your coach may make small changes on its own, such as a lighter week when recovery is low or a calorie tweak of up to 150 a day, or suggest the change for you to approve first. Larger changes are shown to you to approve. Most changes to your training and nutrition targets can be undone within 7 days.

Propel looks out for signs of an urgent physical problem, a pregnancy problem, disordered eating, self-harm, abuse or another safety concern in what you write, and responds with safety information. If a message raises a safety concern, Propel may send the flagged message to our safety team for a person to review, as set out in the Privacy Policy. Propel is not a crisis or emergency service and does not monitor you continuously. If you are in danger call 000, or Lifeline on 13 11 14.

5. Membership and billing

  • Price. At the date of these terms, a Propel membership is A$29.99 a month or A$179.99 a year, with a 7-day free trial for eligible new members. The price shown in the App Store when you subscribe is the price that applies.
  • Billed by Apple. Most memberships are bought in the app through your Apple Account and are subject to Apple’s terms. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase, or when your free trial ends. We do not receive your card details. If your access was set up another way, for example on the web or through a tester invite, see Billing and subscriptions.
  • Auto-renewal. Your membership renews automatically for the same period at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period (or trial). Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
  • Free trial. Apple decides who is eligible for a free trial and confirms the offer and the exact dates when you subscribe. If you don’t cancel before the trial ends, you will be charged for the plan you chose.
  • Cancel any time in the app under Settings › Manage subscription, or in your Apple Account’s subscription settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. Deleting the app or your Propel account does not cancel your subscription.
  • Refunds. Apple handles refunds for App Store purchases. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com or through Apple support. Nothing in this section limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
  • Price changes. If the price changes, Apple will notify you or ask for your consent as its rules require, and you can cancel before the new price applies.

6. Your content

You own the information, photos and messages you put into Propel (“your content”). You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to host, store, process, copy and display it, and to send it to the service providers described in our Privacy Policy, only so we can run Propel for you, provide your coach and plan, keep the service safe, and meet our legal obligations. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for backups and legal records for the period described in the Privacy Policy. You promise that you have the right to upload your content, and that it doesn’t break the law or anyone else’s rights. Please don’t upload photos of other people without their permission.

7. Using Propel properly

Don’t do any of the following:

  • use Propel for anything unlawful, or to harm, harass, or impersonate anyone;
  • copy, modify, reverse engineer, scrape or resell the app, its plans, recipes, exercise library or data, or try to get around its security or subscription controls;
  • overload, probe or interfere with our systems or the AI features;
  • share your account with someone else.

We may suspend or end access if you seriously or repeatedly break these rules.

8. Our rights in the app

Propel, including its software, design, text, exercise and food content, brand and logo, belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by law. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on iPhones you own or control, for your own personal use, while you have an account and comply with these terms. Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement also applies to your use of the app, and Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms as it relates to your use of the app.

If you send us feedback or ideas, you let us use them without having to pay you or credit you.

9. Third-party services

Propel works with services we don’t control, including Apple (the App Store, Apple Health, account creation with Apple and notifications) and Google if you choose to create your account with Google. Their own terms and privacy policies apply to them. We are not responsible for how those services operate.

10. Availability and changes

We work to keep Propel available and accurate, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may update, add, change or remove features, and we may update these terms. Nothing in this section limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

11. Consumer guarantees and liability

Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage, and to have the service provided with due care and skill and fit for a purpose we have been told about. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies those rights.

Subject to that, and to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss caused by something outside our reasonable control, or for indirect or consequential loss that was not reasonably foreseeable.

12. Ending your use

You can stop using Propel at any time and delete your account in Settings › Data & privacy › Delete account (cancel your subscription first, see section 5). We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, if we must by law, or if we stop offering Propel, and we will give you notice where reasonable. Sections that by their nature should continue (for example on liability and governing law) survive the end of your account.

13. Changes and governing law

We may change these terms. We will post the new version here with a new “last updated” date and, for material changes, tell you in the app or by email before they apply. If you keep using Propel after that, you accept the updated terms. If you don’t accept them, stop using Propel and cancel your subscription.

These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, and you and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts. This does not limit any rights you have under mandatory consumer law.
